They're actually talking about the Republic of GM, which is off the coast of the People's Republic of GM. The old Safety structure still maintains an autocracy *there*, but there have been a large number of cold conflict periods between the two regimes driven by the People's Republic's claims that they have anything to do with Safety. Take, for example, the Corvair straits(and curves) conflict, the Vega shoals, and the protest period in which Fieros immolated themselves. This recent debacle, an exercise in the use of 12 volt power, is nothing new.

At the Chicago Auto Show, they had these iPads there in which you could design your own City Express. I made this one twice and left it on both iPad screens.
